NEWS FLASH:

NORTH WOODS, September 2004:  A book signing was held at "From the Cottage at Cardinal's" a gift boutique in the main building of the former Cardinal's Manitowish Lodge on Trout Lake near Boulder Junction, Wisconsin. Doug and his family vacationed at Cardinal's for more than 40 years until the resort closed in 1997. In fact, it's where Doug says he first began to get serious about his writing, inspired by, as the old Hamm's beer commercial put it, "the lofty pines and balsams" and the songs of the loons!  Click on here to see more photos.  Thank you to The Cottage at Cardinal's for hosting the event.  Be sure to check out EVENTS to see Doug in the Chicago area.

EVANSTON:  Each year, Cook County Crime Stoppers holds its Cook County Crime Prevention Awards to honor those in the law enforcement, civic organizations and businesses who have made a difference in the prevention of crime.  The Crime Stoppers added a new category this year - that of Media.

Doug was nominated by one of the local law enforcement agencies.  Evanston Police Chief Frank Kaminski recognized his efforts -  in cooperation with the department and in a dedicated interest in preserving a safe environment for the people in his community.

The Awards Committee agreed and unanimously selected Doug to receive an award.

Doug is honored and thrilled to be honored in this way.  Thank you to Cook County Crime Stoppers and to Chief Kaminski.
